t seems fitting that American Pie's final act will end with a piece of wedding cake. The third movie finds the teens of East Great Falls High all grown-up and set to party at the wedding of Jim (Jason Biggs) and his girlfriend,
former band geek, Michelle (Alyson Hannigan).

Problem is, the nuptials must take place in a hurry - Jim's grandmother is sick and wants to see him walk down the aisle. They have only two weeks to plan the big event.

  Screenwriter/producer Adam Herz
created the outrageous but loveable characters for the first film in 1999. He's reunited as many of the original gang as possible. Along for the ride this time are Pie alum members Steve Stifler (Seann William Scott), Kevin Myers (Thomas Ian Nicholas), Paul Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) and Jim's Dad (Eugene Levy).

The first flick saw the high school pals trying to lose their collective virginity. Then in American Pie 2 the guys got back together for a wild summer vacation.  For American Wedding, they team up once more for the impending nuptials.

Stifler is all-important in the third installment. The politically incorrect, loudmouth party animal is planning the ultimate bachelor party for his buddy Jim, complete with strippers.

Then when the wedding day arrives, Stifler finds himself competing with Finch for the attention of Cadence (January Jones), the knock-out maid of honor, who happens to be Michelle's younger sister.

Of course, Stifler wouldn't be Stifler if he wasn't doing something nausea-inducing. "Some of the stuff with Stifler is
completely gross," Hannigan confirmed to Premiere magazine.

Seann William Scott had other things on the go at the time
he was offered American Wedding, but decided he had to do it. Scott told Film Monthly, "I read the first 20 pages and I
was like 'Oh, man, why didn't they put these lines in the

second one?' I thought, you know what? I'm going to go back in and blow them away!"

Scott spent some time with co-star Jason Biggs in Europe and Australia while promoting American Pie 2. The experience made shooting the third installment easier. "We were actually stuck in Europe on September 11, 2001," he explained to Film Monthly, "so we had gone through some tough times and it was fun to play these characters again because now we're close."

In the previous films, fans got a kick out of love-struck Finch and his passionate affair with Stifler's mother. The sparks still fly when she appears at the wedding, poured into a revealing, figure-hugging gown. To Finch's dismay, the woman of his dreams seems ready to renew her vows with her husband, Stifler's Dad.

Directing the hi-jinks is Jesse Dylan, son of legendary singer/songwriter Bob Dylan. He previously directed the comedy How High in 2001.

As for the chance of a fourth American Pie, no one is saying yet. The only hint of that possibility comes from Canadian Eugene Levy. He told the Chicago Sun-Times, "If they come up with a fourth script as good, I'll sign up in a minute."
