y the time this article is in print, Jennifer Aniston will probably be somewhere in Buffalo filming Bruce Almighty opposite Jim Carrey. We can bet that the comedic actress will be in her element. But when Aniston was in Toronto recently to help promote her latest film The Good Girl, she was singing a different tune. This is, of course, the small dark comedy that marks Aniston's departure from the all-American funny girl she personifies, and Aniston was quick to admit that she was nervous about revealing another side of her. It wasn't shedding her glamorous image that worried her.
"I am only glamorous when you see me working," says the actress. "The rest of the time I am not that at all, so not being glamorous was the easy part."
This was Aniston's first visit to Toronto. Unfortunately, she was only here for about 24 hours, and it was during one of our sweltering heat waves. Aniston says she could not believe how hot it is here. I try to assure her that this is not the norm.
Looks like Michael Douglas can't get enough of our fair city. After hanging out with his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones while she was in town filming the musical Chicago a few months ago, Douglas is back solo shooting his own flick Till Death Do Us Part with co-star Candice Bergen. Sharon Stone and Dennis Quaid have been spending quality time together in Toronto. They co-star in the new thriller The Devil's Throat. Everybody was wondering when Sarah Jessica Parker would come by to visit hubby Matthew Broderick
while he was filming The Music Man. She finally flew in at the tail end of shooting. All eyes were on the pregnant mom-to-be while she strolled around town with hubby by her side.
Other celebs working in town recently: Jason Alexander and David Steinberg were shooting the TV movie The Man Who Saved Christmas. Kate Hudson starred in How To Lose a Guy In 10 Days. William Hurt and Mary Louise Parker played husband and wife in the CBS mini series Hanssen, scheduled to air sometime in November.

How does hunky Hugh Jackman, the Australian actor who made Meg Ryan's character swoon in Kate & Leopold, stay in shape on the set of X-Men 2? Simple. He and wife, Deb, joined a swank gym in the upscale beachside community of Kitsilano, B.C. Regulars there report the couple are laid back, friendly and serious about their workouts. The actor is interested in other kinds of local talent as well. Jackman, his wife and two children took time out to attend an outdoor, roving theatrical show in Stanley Park. The quartet was relaxed and sat on the ground watching the play. No-one recognized them until the end when Jackman was asked for his autograph. Jackman, who plays Wolverine in the movie, will be hanging his hat in Vancouver until the end of October. Patrick Stewart, Famke Janssen and Halle Berry co-star.
Ashley Judd isn't making a movie in Vancouver but she was in town to cheer on hubby Dario Franchitti at the Molson Indy. The Scottish-born race car driver won the event but in many bystanders' eyes, Judd was the real prize. Whether she was looking sensational in a black cocktail sheath with an orchid tucked behind one ear at a fundraising event at a swank downtown steak joint or radiant in white at the race, Judd made an indelible impression. No sign of diva behavior in sight, just ample evidence that she deserved to be honored three times in People magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in the World annual list. Judd previously shot Double Jeopardy with Tommy Lee Jones in Vancouver.
