So silly and basic. Nothing like the original.
Chalamet is sitting on a toilet in the photo. His performance is what is inside the bowl. Stinky.
Awful movie. Chalamet sux.
Nauseating. Nothing works. It's nauseating. Nauseating!
Willie Wonkers is a terrible actor. Worst movie of the year.
Loved it all!
It's a musical. It's a great family movie. I really enjoy it.
Looks like Chalamet is sitting on the toilet in that photo. Terrible choice to play Wonka.
I think it's worth seeing in the movies. This isn't the old story but it's a pre-quell. Visually stunning, funny and clever. A great flick.
I can't believe the bad reviews. This was so entertaining. I loved it and my grandkids loved it. Timmy Chalamet was captivating. This one rivals Gene Wilder and that is saying a lot to me. He sure fit the part.
Sux
This movie is really not good.
Awful movie. Skip this one, you will hate it.
Why do we have to put up with these terrible movies they make. This movie is painful to get through.
I don't understand how people like this movie. Terrible singing and Chalamet fails. Just awful.
2nd time was even better than the 1st time! Cute, funny, sad, goofy, hopeful, and very entertaining. I don't like musicals in general, but this was captivating! The lead is perfect as a young Gene Wilder!
The best part was when it was over.
I don't know what people are complaining about. Yes, there was music. It's a musical. The lead actor did a fantastic job. The bad guys were plentiful and despicable. There were emotional moments. It was less weird than other Willy Wonka movies (which I appreciated). It isn't going to perfectly please everyone, but it's a great family movie; my nine year old son and I both enjoyed it.
What a failure of a movie. Good for insomniacs.
All the singing and dancing in this movie is just too much. Watching this at times was like someone dragging their nails across a blackboard.
This movie is so stupid. I can't understand why anyone loves this movie. The music is awful, nothing memorable. I don't know how Chalamet has a career.
Timmy Chalamet has ruined Willy Wonka.
Really bad
Don't see it on a full stomach...
i enjoyed a lot about this movie, it had a lot of parallels with Matilda the Musical which I found interesting, some of the set design was really impressive and beautiful. I have seen some complaints that he was too sincire and cheery, but this is a prequel, he didnt become the weird Gene Wilder character that we love until later in life when he shut people out for years. This was really enjoyable and fun if you go into it wanting to have fun instead of knit picking every reason its not the same as the first 2
This is one of the very few movies available to watch on the big screen that does not have some sort of political agenda attached to it. You can just go and watch it with your family and it’s not offensive to religious people it isn’t pushing certain ideas on innocent young children that they don’t need to be exposed to it’s just a wholesome fun story. You can watch this movie even if you’ve never read the books or seen the other movies
I thought this movie was a great "feel good" show. The casting was good as was the music. I've seen it twice and will watch it again once it is shown on tv.
I saw this twice and I never see movies twice. It was so well done. Good to see on the Big Screen. Loved the lead. Little Green Hugh Grant was great too.
Just saw Wonka for the 2nd time, with hubby. I loved it even more the 2nd time, especially after watching some interviews with the cast. I don't care much for musicals, but this movie was very charming, endearing, clever, touching, and I loved the music and dancing. Chalumet is adorable and makes an excellent young whimsical Wonka, full of hopes and dreams and ingenuity. Noodle and Lofty were awesome too. Nothing woke in this film. I could definitely see this again! (btw, Hugh Grant, not Laurie - Dr. House ;)
It was cute
Finally, a Wonka character that isn't duplicitously creepy. Those complaining that the other movies featuring Wonka were better obviously have some deep-seated hatred for decency among people and for seeing justice prevail against the evil over-advantaged. If you love magic, wit, and wonder and you root for the under-dog because it's the right thing to do, this movie is for you. Hugh Laurie stole every scene he was in, but the cast is formidably rich on its own. Visceral, comical and beyond-the-archetype characters along with a fun score move this storyline along handily. The special effects were top-notch, but the fact that the "anti-woke" crowd (whatever "woke" is supposed to mean) doesn't like this makes me want to go see it ten times over as it is truly a progressive and timely Wonka. Dahl was on the cusp of progressivism appropriate for his day, and he utilized his talent to out the disgusting nature of people, but this treatment clearly gives the viewer even more hope that the just and creative can thrive in the face of great disadvantage. We need a film like this considering what passes for cultural standards today. Go see it.
Loved this movie for the song, dance and fantasy of it all !! Great characters and lots of fun!!
I Liked this Better Then the Tim Burton one the Original I think in the 70’s was good I really Enjoyed I’m happy this one got a Different director I liked the music. I did Recognize 2 Actors. It was very worth while
I liked it better than older Wonka movies that are outdated now. Willy is young, fun, mischievous and not too quirky. Noodle was great too.
Visuals just wonderful to see! We love the storyline, must see with or without children 😊?? I will be seeing it again with my sister very soon
It had slow parts but overall it’s worth seeing
Storyline was entertaining. The musical scenes were well done.
It was okay, but not as good as the other Wonka movies. Not sure I would recommend it unless you're a huge fan of the character.
Great storyline and excellent acting by Chalamet. Not the greatest singer, but he does not need to be. I would definitely go and see it again. I had low expectations after seeing the version with Depp. This is so much better.
They destroyed Willy Wonka. This is what happens when the woke take over the movie industry.
Great movie, and very funny!!!!!!!!!
incredibly entertaining and all-star cast
This turned out to be a shockingly entertaining family flick with a lot of heart and classic moral measure. The setting is grounded so far outside of reality and the orgional, that it doesn't fall into the prequel trap because it stands as it's own story. The creativity and colors are vivid. The messages are inspiring and encourage kids to standup for themselves (a message of questionable philosophical value in these days). The biggest faults lie in the lead man, who bascally held this movie back with his stale acting, musical ineptitude, and complete lack of dancing skills. The supporting cast all outshined the lead!!! The musical writing was also a bit lackluster, but fine by 2023 standards. Overall a good family movie that could have been great if it weren't for one poor casting call.
My child gave it a 6 out of 10 and I happen to agree with that rating. Just not enough, felt blend and I wish it was more colourful, positive, and funnier.
The musical songs weren't even good. The way they played out the storyline was boring
Dancing. Music. Magic. Easy to follow story. Cute intelligent kid. Fewer Oompaloompas. What more could you ask for?
Timothy Chalamet makes a perfect Willy Wonka. He nailed the part. I can totally see him as a young Gene Wilder’s Wonka. Nice uplifting story line. Has a Wizard of Oz and the original Willy Wonka feeling of creating an incredible place that brings great wonder to your imagination. Dreams can come true if you believe in them.
this prequel is fantastic, full of positive energy and a whole lot of heart!!! you WILL be surprised!!! it is a MUST to see it on the big screen.
Did the original justice. Great cast. Great songs. Very entertaining. Kid-friendly.
I’ve seen all of the Wonka movies, and this one was the best, by far. My 8 year old granddaughter agrees and wants to go see it again.
