The Tribeca Film Festival is honoring Canada’s very own Justin Bieber, but it isn’t for a film role, it’s for the third annual Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Awards. The awards are held to appreciate innovation in non-traditional forms. Justin Bieber and manager Scooter Braun will be honored for their groundbreaking work in making the YouTube sensation the star he is today, which has forever “disrupted the traditional gatekeepers of the music industry.” Tribeca added, “The Bieber phenomenon shows that emerging talent can now be sourced online, flattening the hierarchical structure and the barriers to entry.” A full list of honorees can be found on their website. The awards will be presented during a ceremony/luncheon on April 27. ~Renita Naraine
