Mel Gibson angry with parishioners

By Alexandra Heilbron on June 3, 2009 | 15 Comments

mel_gibson_mistressMel Gibson reportedly berated the congregation of his the Catholic church he attends in Agoura Hills, California last Sunday, because he was upset by the gossip surrounding his personal life. Gibson, 53, who is in the process of divorcing his first wife and the mother of his seven children, is expecting a child with his Russian mistress. “Mel’s completely lost it,” one source said, according to Radar Online. “[His] holier-than-thou world is falling apart around him.” Apparently Gibson paced back and forth, angrily telling the churchgoers that “he would not stand by and be judged and scrutinized.” Interestingly enough, The Passion of the Christ director has not been taking Communion because a traditionalist Catholic who is married to one woman but is conducting a romance with another is considered an adulterer, and in violation of one of the Ten Commandments and therefore ineligible to take Communion. “Mel got up on this stage — the altar and went off,” the insider says. “He tried to intimidate the parishioners by staring at everyone with his angry eyes. [He] even threatened to shut down the church if people kept gossiping about him. He created this mess, and now he’s trying to control it.”

He has the right. And good for him maybe he will get more people out there to start thinking about the bull crap beliefs of religions. It is all hogwash driven into people who need something to believe in.

He’s in his own church for God sakes lol. Maybe we’ll have another “Henry the VIII” here. Better yet, maybe hell do a mini-series cbc. haha

He’s a middle aged fool, If he was such a good Catholic what the hell was he doing with another woman. I feel sorry for his wife and family that have to put up with all this crap he’s created. I hope his new mistress takes him for all he’s got and having his baby she’ll be entitled to quite a bit especially if they get married.

Well, the congregation should be on better behaviour, but at the same time, when you act that way, what do you expect? He is going to be talked about and if he thinks otherwise, perhaps he needs to cool off. If he is such a strong believer, he should be there for the message, not the gossip, regardless who it is about.

Typical Christian hypocrite! This guy goes around spewing his mindless Catholic drivel and then he gets divorced from his wife. Sorry Mel, I think that the Pope frowns on divorce, no? As YOUR God said, \"Judge not lest ye be judged\" and you\’ve certainly been done a lot of judging yourself!looks good on ya, loser!

ok first of all :He tried to intimidate the parishioners by staring at everyone with his angry eyes.” lmao. that was pretty funny. “his angry eyes” ha ha ha. second of all Mary on June 3, 2009 5:00 PM you cant condemn a man just because he falls in love with someone else. (if thats what he has done) God wouldnt expect you to stay in a marriage that is unhappy, once you have already separated and except you to suffer and spend the rest of your life alone just because someone once came up with the 10 commandments. dont get me wrong, im all for God and i believe in him completely, but i refuse to believe he would want ANY of his children to suffer or be miserable if there was some other way.

Carol on June 3, 2009 6:04 PM i dont understand what hes so mad about in the first place, was there really NEVER any gossip about the MOVIE STAR being in the church? clearly when youre as famous as mel is there is going to be talk, even if you didnt just break your own religions rules.

Reality Man on June 3, 2009 9:32 PM whos to say HE was the one that wanted to end the marriage? maybe it was strictly his WIFE that wanted the divorce? how can he refuse that? she has her own will and her own mind, he cant FORCE her to stay married to him. and why is it ANYONES business in the first place? if it was any normal person do you really believe soo many people would be against the fact that hes divorced/getting divorced? i understand the reason behind religion, but i do truly believe that some of it could be a little bit over the top. you marry the first person you ASSUME you love, and then you realize after you meet someone else that you didnt really LOVE the first person, should you seriously be FORCED to continue to hold up your end of the vows? wouldnt that just make your spouse completely miserable and ruin THEIR life as well as THEIR chance at meeting their true love and having their happiness? no one can be so selfish they believe that marriage should HAVE to last forever. people change, people grow and unless you find that one person that changes and grows WITH you then you shouldnt be forced to keep the promises.

Who writes these articles? lol Nice labelling..’mistress’? Not gf? Just to make it sound more scandalous..

She’s not ‘another woman’. He’s been monogamous. Re your last comment..you sound like a real wh@re, you know that? Don’t worry, he IS paying for all this. In more ways than one.

You were quite correct demigod, when you told me a week or so ago “there’s ‘bad’ and then there’s ‘nasty’.” Judging by your comment to Mary ▲, it would seem that the pot was left on the burner just as long as the kettle, huh? 😛

Mel Gibson is awesome. He tells it like it is and I respect that.

  12. Carol • June 4, 2009 @ 8:56 PM

Mandee, I didn’t say he was being gossiped about going to Church, but living the life he is chosing to live means there will be a lot of gossip, the general public, be it believers or non-believers are going to talk. And in the Church they should know better to gossip but they are only human. And I do believe that God would want him to stay with his wife, marriage is not easy, both parties have to work at it, but Mel was obviously working on something else.

anyway, he wasn’t being gossiped about by being in the Church, the congregation was gossiping about him in general

  13. mandee • June 4, 2009 @ 11:55 PM

yeah i know, thats what i meant. how could he have expected them to NOT gossip? im certain they gossiped about him BEFORE he broke their rules, so why would he think, now that hes a sinner they would all of a sudden stop the talk? i think maybe you misunderstood what i said, or maybe i worded it wrong. we didnt hear him complain when the gossip was good lol.

  14. Nancy • June 5, 2009 @ 9:04 AM

Hahaha…you’re right mandee, the rich and famous NEVER complain when the getting is good!

  15. lily • June 6, 2009 @ 7:16 AM

mandee and nancy SO true LOL! Only Mary was actually right about the Catholic stuff: in Mels church he really did do something bad because theres no such thing as divorce. Its a dumb rule in my opinion but i still think if you call yourself Catholic (and Mel pretty much has it tatooed on his forehead)you can’t pick and choose which rules your gonna obey. I don’t like Marys mistress comment but thats Tributes fault cause they call her a ” mistress” in the article.
