Happy Gilmore (1996)

For many fans, Adam Sandler peaked in the '90s and one of his best early films was the sports comedy Happy Gilmore, the first of many collaborations with director Dennis Dugan. It was a silly comedy that had so much working for it, from Sandler's volatile, but charming lead performance; a calming supporting voice in Carl Weathers as Chubbs; and a fantastic antagonist in Christopher McDonald's Shooter McGavin. So much of it shouldn't work, but it does and it's a roller-coaster ride of laughs, highlighted by Sandler's fight with Bob Barker.
